It offers a eucalyptus grove where several months of the year the trees are dripping with large clusters of Monarch Butterflies. The public can view these beautiful creatures by walking the pathways to the trees starting in November each year, especially in their January mating season when they are most active.
Adjacent to the Bluffs, there is public access parking for hikers that wish to take the trails out the the Bluffs, overlooking the ocean, or to the Coronado Butterfly Grove, where they can view the Butterflies, starting in November each year.
Trails go through the Ellwood Preserve, which is protected in perpetuity by the Land Preservation Trust. There are trails that go along the coastline, where there is access directly to the beach.
